Digital Storytelling: Voices of Flint

Cancer affects more than the body — it reaches families, neighborhoods, and the heart of our community. Through the FC3 Digital Storytelling Project, Flint residents share their lived experiences, reflections, and hopes for a healthier future. These stories bring data to life, reminding us why this work matters.

This project was created in partnership with Broadcast Media Educator Jamal Bransford as well as the Flint Public Health Youth Academy (FPHYA). Youth interviewers led the filming and editing, lending their skills, perspectives, and a powerful intergenerational lens to how these stories are told and shared.

Digital storytelling allows residents to speak in their own words through short videos that blend narration, photos, and sound. Each story sheds light on cancer concerns in Flint, the impact of environmental and health challenges, and the resilience that continues to define this community.

Together, these stories help inform researchers and decision-makers, ensuring that community perspectives stay at the center of every step forward.
